Get to Know Esther and I
Welcome to Esther and Ube!
I’m Rachel, and my sous chef (and furry sidekick) is Esther the pup. I’m half Filipino, and one of the things I treasure most about my culture is the food—it’s bold, comforting, and always full of flavor. Growing up, I fell in love not just with Filipino food, but with Asian cuisine in general, and now I’ve made it my mission to master creating dishes inspired by those traditions.
One of my absolute favorite Filipino flavors is ube (hence the name of this blog!). Here, I focus on sharing recipes that celebrate Filipino and Asian flavors while also putting a healthier spin on some classics. From baked goods and traditional meals to quick, easy weeknight dishes, I believe in keeping a good balance—because food should be both nourishing and delicious.
